В настоящее время в аэропорту работают пожарныеThe Flybe Dash 8 aircraft, with 46 passengers on board, was en route to Cardiff from Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris.It is believed that it put down at the West Sussex airport because of a smoke problem.All the passengers and crew were safely evacuated and arrangements were made to take them on to their intended destination.Passenger Shane Kriger told Sky News: "The cabin started to fill with smoke. We immediately descended, landed and had to jump out of the plane."The runway opened again just before 1pm.Eleven flights due to land at Gatwick were diverted to other airports, while another 15 were in left in waiting-to-land "stacking" positions."Three other flights have been held on the ground. We are advising those due to take flights today to turn up as normal," the spokesman said."This is a busy day but it's not our most busy of the summer. We're hoping that delays will be kept to a minimum."
